A new version of Zeus malware has come back to haunt the financial institutions. The notorious Trojan has been making rounds all over the place, which has forced Federal Bureau of Investigations to alert the various financial bodies.

FBI says that the identity-theft malware is capable of cheating the commonly adopted authentication techniques.

The new malware version, called the Gameover, begins with a chain of spammy e-mails, which seems to have come from either the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) or National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA).

On opening these e-mails, they lead to malware infection and finally the access details of the victim’s bank account are compromised.

As per FBI’s belief, the stolen money from the various bank accounts normally go towards the purchase of precious stones or top end watches from some of the costliest jewelry stores.
