There are many tips to increase the speed of the PC, and improve PC performance on the whole. Let us discuss some of these techniques; note that these are applicable for Windows XP OS. However, they also hold good for all the versions of Windows with minor differences in the screens; here’s more to it!

Before we move on to consideration of adding extra cooling fans, here are few more tips to improve pc performance.
Clean Up Disk errors


This feature of Windows is used to clean and check for the errors on the PC and help the PC to run smooth and fast.
• Open My Computer.
• Right click on the specific drive for checking the errors and click on the properties tab.
• Click on the tools tab after the properties window opens. In the section of error checking select the button ‘check now’. The window opens as shown here.
• Check all the boxes present in the opened window. After checking the boxes click on ‘start’.
• There is also an option to schedule the disk check when the PC is started next time so that the operation is done before the logon screen appears when the PC is started for the next time.

Rearranging the Data

No need of being shocked after reading this sentence. There is a chance of PC getting sloppy as the PC always breaks the file saved on it side by side fro increasing the speed of retrieval and access.

Even though the files are modified, these updates were saved by the computer on the largest available space on the hard disk. Slow performance is the result of the fragmented files. The reason behind that is the parts of the files were to be searched an had to be opened and had to be placed together when the particular file is opened.

To run Disk Defragmenter -

• Open My computer.
• Right click on the specific drive needed to be defragmented and right click on it. The click on the properties part.
• After the properties window is opened, click on the defragmentation section and click on the option ‘Defragment now’.
• Later after the dialog box of defragmentation opens select the volume to be defragmented that is on the top portion of the screen and click on the option called ‘Analyze’.

• After the analysis is done a message is displayed by the disk defragmenter asking the confirmation of the disk to be defragmented. Press on the option ‘efragment is necessary’.

The files will be reorganized by the disk defragmenter by organizing and placing them by the size and program as shown in the figure.

Well, the answer is a yes in most cases, and a ‘no’ on other occasions, because adding an extra fan will only help if there’s excessive heat dissipation, which is affecting the performance of your system. Otherwise, your pc performance won’t improve if you add an extra cooling fan!
